Who is Helen Keller:
Helen Keller was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama in 1880. She is a popular American author, lecturer, political activist, disability rights advocate, and the very first person to earn a bachelor’s degree in arts as a deaf-blind. Although born a healthy child, she developed an illness (probably scarlet fever or meningitis) when she was 19 months. The illness left her blind and deaf. She used home signs to communicate till when she was seven and met Anne Sullivan who became her first teacher and life-long acquaintance. Sullivan taught her both writing and reading.
Despite facing numerous challenges in her life, Helen Keller never allowed her disabilities to hold her back. She was determined and worked hard, refusing to let her disabilities define her. Check her biography here.
